Research interests: Dr. Elwert works on methods of causal inference from observational data, especially using quasi-experimental approaches and causal graphs. Substantive applications include peer effects in health and education, social stratification, and social demography. He received the 2013 Causality in Statistics Education Award from the American Statistical Association and the 2018 Leo Goodman Award from the American Sociological Association.
