Drs. Daifeng Wang and Tianyuan Lu, and their students, along with Wang Lab alumnus Jerome Choi, PhD, developed a new machine learning algorithm called COSIME, which was published in Nature Machine Intelligence. The manuscript is titled “Cooperative multi-view integration with a scalable and interpretable model explainer.” (doi: https://doi.org/10.1038/s42256-025-01111-w).
COSIME is an acronym for Cooperative Multi-view Integration with Scalable and Interpretable Model Explainer. This algorithm is capable of working with two different datasets at a time to predict condition or disease outcomes, and then interpret which features and interactions are driving those predictions.
The Waisman Center press release provides a great description of the work. (waisman.wisc.edu/2025/10/21/new-algorithm-helps-decipher-complex-biological-data-to-advance-neurodevelopmental-research/)
Congratulations to Daifeng, Tianyuan, Jerome and the rest of the team on this amazing work!
