Qilin Hong wins ASA 2025 Early Career Award

Congratulations to graduate student Qilin Hong, mentored by Associate Professor Zhengzheng Tang, for winning the 2025 Early Career Award from the Section on Statistics in Epidemiology of the American Statistical Association.

Qilin received the award for his paper, “A marginal regression model for longitudinal compositional counts with application to microbiome data.”

The Section on Statistics in Epidemiology of the ASA grants annual Early Career Awards to new researchers for the best papers in statistics in epidemiology presented at the Joint Statistical Meeting. An awards ceremony will be held at this year’s Joint Statistical Meeting in Nashville, TN, in recognition of the awardees. The award includes $800 for travel support.
