Assistant professor Tianyuan “T” Lu joined the department on August 1, 2024. He is jointly appointed in Population Health Sciences, which is his tenure home.
T comes to the department from the University of Toronto where he worked as a Schmid AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellow. He received his PhD in Quantitative Life Sciences, Statistical Genetics and Genetic Epidemiology Stream from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
His research focuses on developing and implementing rigorous statistical genetics and genetic epidemiology methods to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of complex diseases, and translating research findings into new medical care approaches and therapies. He is extremely excited about being part of the UW community where he can work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds and contribute to highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
