Congratulations to Assistant Professor Daifeng Wang, who has been awarded a $1.68M, 5-year R01 grant from the National Institute on Aging entitled “Understanding the molecular mechanisms that contribute to neuropsychiatric symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease.
Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) are core features of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related dementias that contribute to early institutionalization and cause substantial caregiving and caregiver burden. Despite decades of research, reliable treatments for NPS in the context of AD and other dementias have not been found. The proposed studies will generate and integrate high-dimensional phenomics and genomics data in human brain tissue that will inform us about the molecular mechanisms and pathways underlying NPS in the context of AD and other neuropsychiatric illnesses.
